Smarter engineering, better value.
- Our Ultimate composite decking is an exceptionally high quality decking board that is defined by its rock hard ASA laminate and as a result it is suitable for commercial, multi-residential and high specification residential applications.
It is a decking solution developed for architects and builders who are seeking a commercial quality board at highly competitive pricing. The finished style is very much similar to a decking board such as Trex.
The board is manufactured to robust standards, with an a deep embossed surface, all round laminate and high density composite core. Supplied as a solid core board and specified for maximum 450mm joist centres.
The competitive pricing is fixed on estimate, no late changes, and stock is reserved on confirmation to ensure timely supply for your projects.
- We are happy to discuss suitability for your specific project requirements and feel free to request samples to confirm the quality, style and suitability. We can provide an initial estimate for project budgeting.

Ultimate in Value
We took the time to develop this very specific board because we understand that some customers want a high performance decking surface.
For most installs our Elite range performs perfectly. And then there are some installations such as commercial decks, public areas, walkways, heavy use environments and just residential decks where a deeper embossed eggshell finish is preferred or needed.
Looking around the market for this type of product invariably means a steep increase in the cost, often $160 for a board Such as Trex decking products, or similar.
So we set out to provide a really high specification board, comparable to these higher end boards, with as reasonable a price point as possible. We believe we manage that, and that the Ultimate composite decking board is the leader in the goal of highest quality and best value.

Frequently asked Questions
What makes Ultimate Boards a smarter premium alternative to Trex?
Trex is a well-known global brand, but its high price tag heavily reflects international shipping and massive marketing overheads. Ultimate Boards feature an equally durable co-extruded outer cap and deep, natural timber textures designed for premium finishes. By supplying directly to the market, we provide equivalent commercial-grade scratch resistance and UV stability without an inflated commercial markup. Quite simply ‘Smarter engineering and a smaller supply chain gives you better value to the user’.
How do Ultimate Boards compare to Trex regarding fade resistance and warranty?
Both options utilize advanced polymer capping layers that insulate the inner core from moisture and extreme UV rays, preventing fading, rot, and splitting. However, Ultimate Boards are specifically engineered and tested for the local climate and warranted for ten years. When considering warranties, read the details of all suppliers. Whilst 25year warranties sound great, all warranties are set on a reducing time scale, and very limited to failed boards only.
Are Ultimate Boards fully capped, or are they uncapped like standard Ekodeck Classic?
Standard entry-level composites, like Ekodeck Classic, are completely uncapped—leaving raw wood fibres exposed to food, oil, and UV damage. Every single board in our ultimate range comes with a full, advanced protective cap wrapped around the core. This premium, non-porous shield ensures that stubborn spills like oil, red wine, and grease wipe clean instantly. The full round laminate is really important in wet and damp areas.
How do Ultimate Boards handle thermal expansion compared to other mass-market brands?
All composite products expand and contract, and installation needs to accomodate this reality. It is the price to pay for a product that does not rot or require sealing. It is true that some boards suffer from high thermal movement, particularly with foam cored boards. Ultimate Boards are engineered with an ultra-high-density core for complete structural rigidity. They are fully compliant with standard 450mm residential joist spans and maintain excellent dimensional stability even during intense summer heatwaves.
Does Trex decking have better moisture protection than Ultimate Boards?
A major engineering difference lies in the laminate protection. Many premium imports, including certain Trex ranges, only feature protective capping on the top face or three sides, leaving the bottom of the board or the groove exposed to ground moisture. Ultimate Boards feature an all-round 360-degree laminate shield. This means every millimetre of the board is completely encapsulated, preventing underside moisture from ever creeping into the core.
How do Ultimate Boards prevent core swelling and rot compared to other brands?
Standard composites often rely on lower-density core mixtures that act like a sponge if water gets past the outer layer. Ultimate Boards are engineered with a significantly denser composite core. This ultra-high-density formulation drastically reduces the material’s porosity, making it exceptionally waterproof. Even if a board is cut or drilled during installation, the dense core tightly resists water absorption, preventing the internal swelling, buckling, or rotting common in less dense alternatives.
Are Ultimate Boards solid or hollow, and why does the profile matter?
Ultimate Boards utilise an engineered solid profile. Many cheap market imports use a hollow “honeycomb” design to save on manufacturing costs, which can trap internal condensation, warp, or crack under heavy impact. Our solid, high-density core ensures maximum structural integrity, meaning your deck can easily handle heavy outdoor furniture and heavy foot traffic without bouncing, sagging, or flexing between joists. Hollow boards will have specific warranty limits on the joist gap, our soid boards are designed to fit to 450mm joists, important if you are replacing a deck, and not an already insalled subframe.
How much do Ultimate Boards cost compared to other boards?
Sun Decking Ultimate boards compares incredibly well in terms of cost, providing a 30% or more cost saving for a comparable quality, finish and style against a product such as Trex. Ultimate Boards are one of the highest quality products available, there are cheaper options, in terms of the quality of the core maerials, the makeup and durablity of the laminate, or the structure of the core when comparing solid boards with hollow or scalloped options. The cost differentials we offer are a result of smart manufacturing and a smaller and leaner supply process allowing us to pass value directly to our customers.
